Making The Rounds
TPC’s Dave Monks and Graham Wright told Pollstar prior to the band’s set at this year’s Sasquatch festival that they were looking forward to the experience of playing such big festivals.
“I like the hustle and bustle of it… it’s worth it just to play to all these great crowds,” Wright said. “And people that get up and come and see bands all day long – I don’t know how they do it. They maintain enthusiasm like 12 hours a day.”
The European leg of the tour kicks off with a June 21 gig at London’s Hoxton Bar before TPC makes a June 22 appearance at the mother of all festivals, Glastonbury.
A quick jaunt to Germany will feature stops at Hurricane Festival in Scheessel June 23, Southside Festival in Neuhausen June 24, and a performance at Cookys in Frankfurt June 25.
Next, its on to a June 28 appearance Hovefestival in Arendal, Norway, followed up by an Accelerator Festival set in Stockholm, Sweden June 29.
The band will play three Barfly club gigs in London, Birmingham and Liverpool July 3-5, before its last stop, Balado Park for the T In The Park festival July 8.
The European dates lead up to the release of Tokyo Police Club’s new single, “Your English Is Good,” due out July 9 in the UK, and July 10 in North America.
TPC heads home to Ontario July 13 for the Cisco Systems Ottawa Bluesfest before setting off across the U.S., with stops in more than 20 cities including Indianapolis (July 18), Denver (July 21), San Francisco (July 23), Austin (July 29), New Orleans (August 1) and Atlanta (August 2) in the lead-up to Lollapalooza in Chicago (August 4).
