Washington Sports Prexy Exits

Susan O’Malley, president of Washington Sports and Entertainment and 20-year veteran of the company, will leave WSE this year.

Prior to her departure, she’ll assist in the selection of her successor and the coordination of the 10-year anniversary celebration for the Verizon Center (formerly MCI Center) in Washington, D.C., in December.

O’Malley became the first female president of an NBA franchise in 1991 when she took over the job for the then-Washington Bullets. Her responsibilities grew to oversee not only the NBA team but also the MCI Center and Ticketmaster’s Washington-Baltimore franchise.
