The band’s gig with Against Me! kicks off August 5 at Slowdown in Omaha, Neb., and features stops scattered across the South, including the Ridgelea Theater in Ft. Worth (August 8), Meridian in Houston (August 10), the House of Blues in New Orleans (August 11), Rocketown in Nashville (August 14), Jannus Landing in St. Petersburg, Fla. (August 17), and Common Grounds in Gainsville, Fla. (August 19).

The Gallants’ new EP, The Scenery of Farewell, hit stores this week. The EP features tracks with origins near the beginning of the band’s career like “Lady” and “No Joe.” All the songs on the EP were performed during a 2006 seated acoustic show at Bimbo’s 365 in San Francisco.

The five tracks on the disc were recorded in the next month on two-inch tape and produced by Alex Newport at San Francisco’s Hyde Street Studios. The songs feature appearances by several San Francisco-based musicians making contributions with cello, double bass, and violin that helped define the traditional sensibilities of the songs.

Two Gallants next full length album is due out September 25 on Saddle Creek Records.
