Marshall Tucker’s McCorkle Dies

George McCorkle, 60, founding member of the Marshall Tucker Band and writer of "Fire On The Mountain," died after a long bout with cancer June 29th.

McCorkle left the band in 1984 but made an appearance with MTB at Nashville’s Starwood Amphitheatre in August.

The rhythm guitarist, who was working in Nashville as a full-time songwriter, also co-wrote the band’s "Dreamlover," "Last of the Singing Cowboys" and "Foolish Dreaming," among others.
