The event will be held September 21 at Royal Albert Hall in London, and includes video messages and specially filmed pieces by David Beckham, Jude Law and others.

Tickets are available through the venue and Ticketmaster UK. Complete details can be found at www.peaceoneday.org.

Peace One Day began as a film project of filmmaker Jeremy Gilley in 1999. Gilley’s goal was to establish the first ever annual day of global cease-fire and non-violence. In 2001, September 21 was unanimously adopted as Peace Day by UN members states, and by 2006, 200 countries had committed to the initiative.

Prior to the Peace One Day concert, Annie Lennox will perform an exclusive show at the Mermaid Theatre in London with the BBC Orchestra. Tickets for the event are being distributed through a contest held by BBC Radio 2. The concert will be broadcast on Radio 2 on August 25 and available on the Radio 2 web site.

Lennox, who recently revealed on her web site that her upcoming October release will be called Songs of Mass Destruction, said she believes the Peace Day movement is vital to everyone and she’s happy to be involved.

“Something that’s of common interest to every man, woman and child on the planet must surely be the notion of Peace,” the singer said. “Without Peace we cannot surviveā€¦I’m thrilled and delighted to be part of [the concert], and to contribute to making Peace One Day become an inspirational reality.”
