XPoNential Crash

A New Jersey man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and drug-related charges after his out-of-control SUV hit a child and a vendor stand at the annual XpoNential Music Festival in Wiggins Park July 21st, where 7,000 people were in attendance.

Witnesses said the SUV rear-ended another car, then slammed into an ice cream cart, a 10-year-old girl and a park bench before hitting a trailer near the festival’s side stage.

"Luckily for us the one stage was dark," police chief James D’Angelo said. "If there was a performer on that stage the injuries would have been very, very bad."

The girl and the driver involved in the initial collision were not seriously injured. The suspect, after apparently being wrestled to the ground by five cops, was arrested on charges including DUI and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
