Tom Snyder’s Music

Former talk show host Tom Snyder died July 29th after a long bout with leukemia.

Although he’ll likely be remembered for his contribution to late-night television talk shows, Snyder also contributed to the musical landscape of the ’70s and early ’80s as host of "The Tomorrow Show" on NBC.

His guests included John Lennon and Johnny Rotten of The Sex Pistols and – as pointed out by the bloggers at Idolator.com – in 1981 the show featured the first U.S. television appearance of some young kids from Dublin called U2 and an awkward interview with The Clash.

He also debuted "Weird Al" Yankovic and allowed The Plasmatics to make an awful mess in the studio.
