TM Polices Tix

Ticketmaster recently found an interesting way to regulate the secondary ticket market prior to a concert at Boston’s Fenway Park.

Getting tickets for big concerts at the home field of the Red Sox pushed fans to the secondary market, so this time TM prevented some scalping by releasing additional tickets at the last minute, the Boston Herald reported.

Case in point? The Police’s July 28-29 Beantown gigs.

The paper performed a search on the site two days before the weekend and the results were surprising.

Ticketmaster’s site still had $55 and $95 seats available, and a pair of field-level seats about 30 rows back from the stage were available for a total of $498.05, the Herald said.

That doesn’t mean that all tickets disappeared from secondary ticketing sites, though.

"Police tickets are still over face value," Ace Ticket’s Kevin Fowler told the paper. "Some premium tickets are still up around $400. The broker market hasn’t crashed."

But besides those looking to sit up front and center, TM’s release of the extra seats apparently meant there were plenty of deals to be found at the last minute.

Discounted tickets flooded the Craigslist marketplace, according to the Herald, where sellers even offered to trade concert tickets for tickets to the Red Sox. Ebay also had discounted tickets available, the paper said.
