Vuignier Lit Up Like Nyon

Festival booker Sebastien Vuignier is lit up about this year’s Paleo Nyon, where he says some excellent performances from the acts and some glorious weather combined to make Switzerland’s No.1 outdoor another "huge success."

This year’s July 24-29 gathering sold out its 35,000 per day capacity in record time after details of a bill including Muse, Arcade Fire and Arctic Monkeys were leaked on the Internet three days before the press conference scheduled to announce them. But Paleo is the one Swiss summer festival that’s guaranteed to sell out.

"It’s certainly sold out in advance for the last seven or eight years – I can’t even remember without looking it up," Vuignier told Pollstar, trying not to sound like someone who’s beginning to take it for granted.

He says what made this year stand out from some of the previous ones was the quality of the performances and the sunny weather.

"It stopped raining as the first band started to play and started again as the last one was finishing. In between we had six days of sunshine."

The other acts helping Paleo enjoy its seventh, eighth, or maybe even ninth sellout in a row included Bjork, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Zucchero, Pink, Robert Plant, Gogol Bordello, Donavon Frankenreiter, The View, Sly & Robbie and Rachid Taha.
