Stickels Honored With Parnelli

Gerry Stickells of GLS Productions will receive the Parnelli Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Parnelli Awards at the Peabody Hotel in Orlando, Fla., November 16th.

Starting in the ’60s, Stickells served as production and tour manager for the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Queen and Elton John. He partnered with Chris Lamb in 1977 and formed GLS Productions.

Stickells ran Hendrix’s Electric Lady Studios for two years following the guitar hero’s death in 1970 and organized the first Freddie Mercury tribute concert in 1992, later writing the book "Queen On The Road: The Authorized Story" in 1995.

"In establishing the award to honor Rick ‘Parnelli’ O’Brien, Gerry L. Stickells was never very far out of the circle of attention," Parnelli Advisory Board executive chairman Patrick Stansfield said. "As he was Rick’s principal mentor and a great friend of his, it has always been our intention to honor Gerry with the Lifetime Achievement Award."

Live audio innovator Bob Heil of Heil Sound will be feted with the Innovator award at this year’s event.
