Prince Of Rumors
A few U.K. tabloids are reporting that Prince wants to build a house on the redevelopment land surrounding The O2 in London.
If it’s true, it’s a more ambitious plan than the diminutive singer reportedly had last month.
On that occasion, he was rumoured to want a luxury camping area built inside the 20,000-capacity O2 arena so he could stay there during his current record-breaking 21-date concert run.
Some of the papers running the story have said he’s in talks with O2 site owner AEG about having a five-bedroom luxury house built on the Docklands site.
They claimed AEG would cover the cost of the construction. There was no mention of how this could or would affect the fee for the O2 shows.
The singer allegedly wants to use the new gaff as a London base, although the Daily Mail’s "sources" say it’s not only because of the number of shows he’s playing there.
"Prince’s people approached real-estate vendors with the idea a few months ago," the paper’s insider revealed. "He has some pretty wild nights out in London and loves all that the capital has to offer, so it makes sense for him to have a more permanent base here.
"And with Docklands increasingly becoming a trendy place to live, he obviously wants to capitalize on this," the insider said. "Plus, with more and more gigs and events being held at the O2, he will always be a stone’s throw away from the action. Yes, it is a bit extravagant, but then again this is Prince we’re talking about."
