Geiger will warm up for the tour with an appearance at Playland Park in Rye, N.Y. as part of the park’s free concert series.

The tour gets rolling in earnest September 23 at Rams Head On Stage in Annapolis, Md., and so far is scheduled to hit 14 cities around the East Coast and Midwest. Stops include the North Star Bar in Philadelphia (September 26), Higher Ground in South Burlington, Vt. (September 29), the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, N.J. (October 2), Schubas Tavern in Chicago (October 5), and the House of Blues in Cleveland (October 8).

Presale tickets are available through the singer’s web site and MySpace page, and tickets for some shows are on sale through Ticketmaster.

Besides finishing his new album, Geiger has been busy filming his first feature film role in “The Rocker,” which also stars Rainn Wilson, Christina Applegate and Emma Stone
