Numbers Slightly Down At M’Era Luna
The M’Era Luna crowd was about 10 percent down on average for the German event, but FKP Scorpio press officer Elke Ulferts said that’s much better than it looked at one point.
"The weather has hit a lot of German festivals and now the advance sales are down. M’Era Luna’s early sales weren’t so good but then the weather brightened and we sold a lot more day tickets than we expected."
The number of day tickets may also have gotten a boost when the festival offered much-reduced entrance to ticket-holders for the canceled Rock-am-Schloss Festival at Jever.
The 2,000-per day Rock-am-Schloss, which started with less than 100 per day five years ago, had to be pulled because the site was under water. Refunds could be a problem because the fledgling festival on Germany’s North Sea coast is almost certain to face bankruptcy.
The acts enjoying the sunshine along with the M’Era Luna goths of Hildesheim August 10-12 included Tool, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Deine Lakaien und die Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt, Skinny Puppy, Anne Clark, My Dying Bride, IamX and Jesus On Extasy.
