The band will play at least two nights in each market on the schedule. Long evenings will focus on epic, progressive compositions and short nights, while no shorter in length, will highlight material that leans more toward pop.

The tour kicks off with two nights at Chicago’s Vic Theatre (October 28-29) and runs through the first part of December.Highlights include stops at the new Terminal 5 in New York City (November 1-2), the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. (November 9-12), The Fillmore in San Francisco (November 23-26), and the Moore Theatre in Seattle (December 8-9).

Laura Viers, who guests on The Decemberists’ current album, The Crane Wife, will be the main supporting act for the tour.

A limited number of custom presale tickets created by the band’s illustrator Carson Ellis will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning August 25. For the presale, fans must purchase both a long and a short night ticket, but they’ll receive a $10 discount, as well as a free poster and a download of the Junior Boys remix of the band’s current single, “The Perfect Crime.”

In markets with an odd number of dates, tickets for the final date will be sold separately.

General ticket sales begin September 7.
