The October 16 event will take place at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

The evening will consist of two parts: a prayer ceremony featuring multi-phonic Tibetan chanting followed by a benefit program of acoustic music and spiritual reflections.

Tickets go on sale September 7 through Ticketmaster and at www.livenation.com.

Proceeds from the event benefit the International Campaign for Tibet and Washington National Cathedral’s Center for Global Justice and Reconcilitation.

Pray for Peace began as a collaborative effort between Graham Nash and Bishop John Bryson Chane after the Dalai Lama visited Washington National Cathedral in 2003 to promote the concept of universal responsibility.

The pair vowed to make the event a reality when the Dalai Lama returned to the capital. The Nobel Peace Prize recipient will receive the Congressional Gold Medal October 17 from Congress for “his enduring and outstanding contributions to peace, non-violence, human rights and religious understanding.”
