Anaheim Residential Development

Officials in Anaheim, Calif., said August 31st they would move forward on a proposed residential development scheduled to be built near Angel Stadium even though Los Angeles Angels owner Arte Moreno could legally block the project.

Moreno and city council members are reportedly at odds about building 1,100 apartments on a 53-acre site near the baseball team’s parking lot and The Grove of Anaheim.

The city owns the land but the Angels hold a lease that bans housing on the site, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Moreno had previously expressed concern that the mixed-use development would infringe on the Angels’ rights regarding parking, stadium access and the overall view from the venue, the paper said.
