Schruefer Edits Schulenberg’s Event

Former Musikmarkt vice chief editor Martin Schruefer has started work on his first issue as chief editor of Event, the 200,000-plus circulation entertainment magazine owned by CTS Eventim chief Klaus-Peter Schulenberg.

Schruefer said he took the new job because KPS Verlagsgesellschaft made "a very good offer" for him to head up the free issue-monthly, which also meant him stepping up from being a deputy.

The magazine is available at the 1,300 ticket shops connected to the CTS ticketing system, plus travel agencies, cafés, bars, restaurants and clubs throughout Germany.

It provides a consumer guide to upcoming tours and shows, often being the first to announce new dates.

During his time with the weekly music trade magazine, Schruefer also worked with Jens Michow, president of the IDKV promoters’ association, to set up the annual German Live Entertainment Awards.

His move to Event means he can no longer head up Musikmarkt’s involvement with the LEAs, although he will stay on as a member of the judging panel.

As both the Musikmarkt and Event jobs are based in Munich, Schruefer, his wife and two sons have no need to relocate.

Next year’s LEA Awards are at Hamburg Fliegende Bauten March 11.
