Summer Ends With Independent Days
The Italian festival season has amounted to only three events this year, with Independent Days bringing it to a close by attracting 13,000 to Bologna’s Parco Nord.
The Indpendente-produced event – along with Florence’s new Italia Wave (formerly Arezzo Wave) and Andre Pieroni’s two-legged Gods Of Metal – were the only summer bills to attract international acts in 2007. The four-day Heineken Jammin Festival in Venice (June 14-17) was canceled because of dangerous winds.
Independent Days was scrapped last year because the Pordenone-based company couldn’t find the right headliners, but no such problems surfaced this year.
Indpendente’s Gianpietro Giachery was pleased to report good weather and an enthusiastic crowd, particularly for co-headliners Tool and Nine Inch Nails.
Others on the September 1 bill included Maximo Park, Hot Hot Heat, …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Billy Talent and Petrol.
