Boston Avalon To Be Razed

Boston’s 1,920-capacity Avalon and the 750-capacity Axis club will reportedly meet the wrecking ball, possibly by the end of the summer, to make room for a 35,000-square-foot venue, tentatively titled the Lansdowne Street Music Hall at 15 Lansdowne St.

Construction is expected to start as early as next fall and the club should be open for business within a year.

The construction tab is estimated to ring up at $14 million, according to the Northeastern News.

The new venue, which is part of a plan to transform the nightlife scene on the street into a 24-hour attraction, will include a movable stage to comfortably feature both large and small acts and perks like dressing rooms for artists.
