The Sh*t Hits The Stage
The band will kick things off with a trio of appearances in Los Angeles: September 28 at the Dim Mak Records Warehouse Party, September 29 at the Neighborhood Music Festival in Exposition Park and a DJ set September 30 at LAX in Hollywood.
Sh*tdisco will also make stops at the Hi Fi Club in Calgary (October 2), The Plaza Club in Vancouver (October 4) and Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco (October 5) before hopping on Klaxons‘ North American tour October 6 at The Vic Theater in Chicago.
Other shows on the schedule include the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. (October 8), Opera House in Toronto (October 10) and Webster Hall in New York City (October 12).
Sh*tdisco was formed in 2003, while members Joel Stone, Joe Reeves, Jan Lee and Darren Cullen were studying at the Glasgow School of Art.
Soon after the band came together, members began holding free shows at parties in drummer Cullen’s flat in Glasgow, which quickly became known as “61,” the number of the building.
The practice continued until 2006, when the drummer was evicted and threatened with a lawsuit over damages to the property. The band has since issued a standing offer to play house parties in cities where they perform.
Sh*tdisco’s debut, Kingdom of Fear, was released in April. The album’s title is a reference to the final novel by late gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson.
