Scalpers Find Led Zep Heavy Going
Internet touts may be stymied when it comes to finding tickets for Led Zeppelin’s November 26th reunion at London’s O2 Arena.
So far, not one has even mentioned the gig – let alone advertised seats – as promoter Harvey Goldsmith looks to keep the special show’s tickets out of their hands.
Unless the touts are among the million fans that collectively recorded 1 billion hits on the ticket site and manage to end up among the 20,000 picked by ballot, the secondary market will have to rely on lottery winners for tickets.
"We would like to thank all the fans for their support and we hope that all those fortunate to be successful will keep the tickets out of the hands of touts," Goldsmith said shortly before applications closed.
The Web site, which went live when the gig was announced September 12, crashed because of such heavy traffic. It had to be moved to its own server to cope with the massive interest.
Singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones are re-forming and being joined by Jason Bonham, the son of the late drummer John Bonham, in a tribute concert to remember the late Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun.
It’s the first and so far only show the act has announced.
