Galbraith To Reappear At The Summit
Former Live Nation UK managing director Stuart Galbraith’s public return to the music business could be at a new conference being staged by the publishers of the monthly Audience magazine.
He’s been confirmed as one of the panelists at The Summit on October 23, the second day of the new live industry gathering that Audience Media is hosting at London’s Park Lane InterContinental Hotel.
He’s on an 11.15 a.m. panel called A Festival Too Far, a roundtable and open discussion on the current state of the U.K. outdoor market.
An October 3 press call to announce that he would be working in cahoots with arch rival AEG was scrapped because his former employer got an injunction. Galbraith’s made no public comment since then.
However, he is believed to be close to reaching a compromise over how long he’ll need to be on "gardening leave" to see out the restrictive covenant in his LN contract.
Lawyers from both sides have already agreed to the adjournment of one High Court hearing in the hope that they’d be able to sort it out without bothering a judge.
Unless there’s a settlement, then it’s likely he’ll still be legally gagged from talking about when and where he’s going to be working in the future.
Other topics under discussion at The Summit (October 22-24) include how acts can maximize earnings on the road, venture capital and the live music industry, the state of the college circuit, and the changes in the ticketing sector.
Apart from Galbraith, the speakers include See Tickets managing director Nick Blackburn, Music Managers Forum president Jazz Summers, National Arenas Association chairman Geoff Huckstep, AEG Live senior international vice president Rob Hallett, DF Concerts and T In The Park Festival director Geoff Ellis, Ticketmaster managing director Chris Edmonds, and Virtual Festivals managing director Steve Jenner.
