Acts Encouraged To Be Interactive

The EuroSonic-Noorderslag festival and theFactor.e Web agency have joined forces to reward the European act that does most to promote its music via the Internet.

Now that marketing music is no longer a matter of huge advertising budgets, billboard campaigns or broadcasting time on television, they feel it’s important that acts put more focus on presenting themselves online in unique and interactive ways.

Apart from the glory of coming out on top, the winning act will get euro 5,000 cash and a couple of days of recording time in Studio Spitsbergen.

"It’s all about stimulating European pop and rock music. That is what we want to demonstrate with this award," said Noorderslag creative director Peter Smidt, adding that it matches perfectly with the mission of the Noorderslag Weekend.

Registration is at www.tfe.nl before November 30, when a jury of opinion leaders from the music and ICT worlds will hammer out a shortlist.

They will announce five nominees on December 14th, with the eventual winners being named on the final evening of the Eurosonic-Noorderslag Weekend (January 10 to 12).
