A group of Ticketmaster customers who purchased tickets to a John Fogerty show at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York were in for a bit of a surprise when TM notified them that they’d need to pay an extra $100 to see the show.
A customer service e-mail reportedly explained that a group of mezzanine-level seats purchased for $49.50 per ticket (plus service charges) were in fact $148 plus those fees, and had been listed incorrectly due to a "programming error."
TM spokeswoman Bonnie Poindexter told Pollstar that "due to seating reconfigurations at the venue, some ticket prices were revised at the time tickets were sold online. A limited number of online ticket buyers were affected and we are in contact with them directly to resolve."
Customers were reportedly offered the opportunity to pay the difference and keep the tickets, exchange for general admission seats or receive a full refund.
