Bedwetting For Estonia
The hottest new sound in Europe is the Bedwetters from Estonia, according to a viewer poll on MTV.
The band was formed in 2004 and the current lineup of Joosep Järvesaar, Mihkel Mõttus, Karl-Kristjan Kingi, Kaspar Koppel and Rauno Kutti won the vote at the MTV Europe Music Awards at Munich Olympiahalle on November 1st.
"Now with a global audience of millions watching them close the MTV Europe Music Awards, their destiny is in their hands," says a note on the network’s Web site.
Firma from Romania and Yakup from Turkey were the runners-up.
The new award category, launched in partnership with Sony Ericsson, celebrates emerging artists and gives MTV audiences a first look at the acts on the cusp of breaking onto the international stage.
Viewers in 18 markets were asked to nominate their favourite up-and-coming artist to compete in a European-wide competition on the MTV and Sony Ericsson Web sites.
Voting then began for the 18 semifinalists to decide the artist and country that would win the first "New Sounds of Europe Award" title.
