Federici Diagnosed With Melanoma

Danny Federici, longtime keyboardist with Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, has been diagnosed with melanoma and is taking a leave of absence from the current Magic tour for treatment of the disease, according to a Springsteen spokesman.

Charles Giordano, who played with Springsteen’s Sessions Band, will fill in until Federici is able to return. The Magic tour has wrapped its first U.S. leg and opens its European leg in Spain November 25th.

Federici has played keyboards for Springsteen since the late 1960s.

"Danny is one of the pillars of our sound and has played beside me as a great friend for more than 40 years. We all eagerly await his healthy and speedy return," Springsteen said in a stratement.
