Possible New Biggie Defendants

Several new defendants, including Suge Knight, may be allowed in the wrongful-death lawsuit brought by the family of Notorious B.I.G., a federal judge has tentatively ruled.

U.S. District Court Judge Florence-Marie Cooper ruled November 16th the lawsuit could be amended because of newly discovered evidence. An earlier lawsuit ended in a mistrial in 2005.

Another possible defendant could be former LAPD police officer Rafael Perez, whose name has been mentioned in several news reports and a book as having a possible association with the killing.

New evidence shows Perez was on duty the night Biggie was killed as he left the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles March 9, 1997, and may have been at the scene, according to Cooper.

Thomas Reichert, an attorney for the city, said the new evidence was "old wine, new bottles."
