12th & Porter Shuts Doors
Nashville’s famed 12th & Porter club has closed its doors for the second time this year, and the future of the venue looks unclear.
The 250-capacity club closed in May amid tax issues and reopened a few days later. This time, a venue representative told Pollstar it will remain closed until further notice.
The club’s leaseholders reportedly filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year, but secured new investors to bring much-needed cash into the operation.
However, that additional financing appears to have been inadequate as building owner Brad Causey told WKRN news the leaseholders are still in bankruptcy. Causey said he hopes to keep 12th & Porter going and find a new team to run it.
The club, which opened in 1984, has legendary status in Nashville and is known as a favorite showcase venue, in part because of its top-notch sound system.
The club has hosted major acts including Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, Keith Urban and Jewel.
