‘A Storm In A D-Cup’
Councilors in the South Yorkshire town of Rotherham in England are at odds because an important meeting was postponed when some of them wanted to meet Dolly Parton.
The 61-year-old American country singer chose this surprise setting for the December 5th launch of her Imagination Library, a children’s literacy scheme.
Independent councillor Tony Mannion is outraged because some of his colleagues want to rub shoulders with Dolly at a special lunch, meaning important discussions – including where a nuclear power station will be sited – will have to be postponed.
Mannion’s concerned that her visit is interrupting the council’s 9 to 5 routine.
"I’ve spoken to the Labour leader. Apparently, he’s a Dolly Parton fan. I suppose my complaints will fall on deaf ears and that some might say it’s a storm in a D-cup, or double D-cup. But it’s the principle," Mannion told The Times.
