Scranton Loses Its Innocence
Chalk up another city that may be taxing concerts: Scranton, Pa.
Officials are considering a plan that would tax amusements, including concerts, to boost the city’s revenue base by up to $100,000.
Council president Judy Getalli said the tax, which initially was proposed at 10 percent, will be cut to 5 percent.
For a $50 concert ticket, that translates to an add-on of $2.50 if approved.
Many cities have a fee buried in the ticket price.
