Emma Banks Is Woman Of The Year

Emma Banks from Creative Artists Agency’s London office was named Woman Of The Year at the annual music industry bash put on by Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and the BRIT Trust.

It’s the first time Banks has taken the coveted prize, which recognises the achievements of women working in the music industry and related media, although she did collect the same ceremony’s Special Achievement Award in 1997.

She described the award as a "real honour," and went on to thank Wasted Talent agency founder Ian Flooks, from whom she gained her first job.

"He was instrumental in getting me where I am today," she explained.

There are four awards with Woman Of The Year, which has previously been won by MTV’s Harriett Brand, Sharon Osbourne, Jill Sinclair from ZTT and artist manager Gail Colson among the most prestigious.

The other three awards this year went to NME picture editor Marion Patterson (Special Achievement), Radio Two presenter Janice Long (outstanding contribution) and Big Brother general manager Emma Greengrass (accolade award).

The awards are voted for by the WOTYA committee on the basis of suggestions received from its members, patrons and other executives in the industry

The annual gathering, the 11th time it’s been held, was at the Intercontinental Hotel November 29.
