Travis Tritt Sues Category 5
Travis Tritt filed a lawsuit in federal district court against Category 5 Records and label president and CEO Ray Termini, seeking $10 million in damages for breach of contract and fraud.
Tritt claims he was denied money for promotional travel and royalty payments. According to the lawsuit, the record label owed Tritt more than $399,300 as of December 1st.
The singer alleges he was denied complete creative control as promised and that Termini misled him about Category 5’s financial resources and competence as a record label.
The lawsuit comes on top of last month’s news that Termini, who is also the chief executive of Haven Healthcare, is under investigation for diverting Medicaid funds from the 25 nursing homes the Connecticut company runs to fund the Nashville label and other unrelated projects. Shortly after the investigation was announced, Haven Healthcare Corporation filed for voluntary bankruptcy.
