Gervais, perhaps best known in the U.S. as the creator and star of the U.K. version of “The Office” and “Extras,” will kick off the run July 12 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., and then head East for two shows at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City (July 14-15).

Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.

All three shows will be filmed for an HBO special.

Although Gervais has completed a number of tours in the U.K. – most notably his themed trilogy “Animals,” “Politics” and “Fame” – he has only performed live in the States three times, two warm up shows at the TriBeCa Performing Arts Center and a headlining turn at David Bowie‘s last May.

Speaking of Bowie, here he is appearing on “Extras” in one of the series’ most utterly hysterical moments.
