Verizon Shed Heading For New West
The county that owns the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Bonner Springs, Kan., is reportedly on the cusp of signing a facility management deal with concert promoter Chris Fritz, who runs New West Presentations.
Wyandotte County’s Unified Government outlined a deal in December that would let New West remove Verizon’s lower-level seats and make the shed a general admission venue, according to the Kansas City Star.
The Unified Government would receive an estimated $107,500 in annual receipts and Bonner Springs would get $52,500, the paper said.
Live Nation declined an option to renew its management contract for the Verizon Wireless shed and let the contract lapse when 2007 came to a close.
New West could not be reached at press time.
