Five Times August has developed a sizeable following through almost constant touring, spending more than 8 months on the road last year and hitting 43 states. Brighter Side, due out March 18, is the singer’s second independently released disc. Skistimas said he likes the freedom not being on a major gives him.
“I’ve had offers that many other unsigned acts would probably snag in a minute, but I’m doing so well on my own,” he said. “Working independently is amazing and gratifying, and I’m very lucky to be leading the way for this new way of doing things.”
