Station Fund Benefit Concert
Twisted Sister, Stryper and Gretchen Wilson are a few of the acts scheduled to perform at a benefit concert for the Station Family Fund, a nonprofit that helps survivors of the 2003 Station nightclub fire in West Warwick, R.I.
John Rich and "American Idol" contestant Kellie Pickler are also on the bill, among others, to mark the fifth anniversary of the tragic blaze that killed 100 people and injured 200 when pyrotechnics used during a Great White show caught the club’s insulation on fire.
Dee Snider, host of the event, said the varied lineup is to show that disasters such as the Station fire aren’t exclusive to any one type of music.
"It’s something that could have happened anywhere to any music fan," Snider said. "There are these fire-trap clubs all over the world, all over the country, and it could have been in an urban club or in a country honky tonk."
The event, scheduled for February 25th, will be held at the 14,500-capacity Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, R.I.
