Buma Cultuur Hijacks Dutch Embassy
The organization behind Eurosonic-Noorderslag and Amsterdam Dance Event has teamed with the cultural attaché at the Dutch Embassy in London to host a cocktail party to mark the opening of this year’s ILMC.
Buma Cultuur, the foundation the Dutch authors’ rights organization funds to promote national acts abroad, has arranged a meet-and-greet at the Atrium Room in the Dutch Embassy at 38 Hyde Park Gate – a five-minute walk from the ILMC. It’s scheduled for 5 p.m. March 7, coinciding with the first day’s conference sessions drawing to a close.
The Dutch music industry meet-and-greet has been set up as an informal gathering with free drinks and pre-dinner snacks, although the number of people enjoying the hospitality of the Kingdom of The Netherlands is limited to the six or seven dozen the room will hold.
Eurosonic-Noorderslag creative director Peter Smidt and European Talent Exchange Programme producer Ruud Berends will be hosting the event.
Major companies, including Prime Time Management, The Alternative, The Entertainment Group, Gentle Management and White Mountain Management will be giving Powerpoint presentations of a host of Dutch acts likely to include Tiesto, Voicst, Kraak & Smaak, Moke, and Room 11.
Amsterdam Dance Event manager Richard Zijlma will be talking about this year’s October 23-25 gathering, having already publicly set himself the challenge of making it better and bigger than last year’s edition, which attracted 1,800 delegates to the city’s Felix Meritis Centre.
