Jim, due April 29 on Warp Records, is Lidell’s third full-length release.

The singer has gained quite a reputation for his energetic live shows since the release of his debut, Muddlin Gear, in 2000.

Performances often feature Lidell as a one-man beatboxing band, with vocal tracks sung into a microphone transformed into percussion and melody, while he lays down his trademark soulful vocals.

If all that sounds a little confusing, check out this clip of Lidell performing at London’s Royal Festival Hall in 2005.
