Upgrading Miss. Coast Coliseum
The Authority for the 15,000-capacity Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi is planning to file a $14.9 million application with the Mississippi Development Authority for a 400-car parking garage, a new sound system and other improvements.
Although the Coliseum Authority was given funds from FEMA after Hurricane Katrina to repair and replace the roof, façade and restrooms of the venue, another option being looked at is replacing the venue in a few years with a new building on Interstate 10, according to the Sun Herald.
The paper noted that replacing the 30-year-old coliseum with a larger building would make it more accessible and able to attract bigger concerts and performers.
