Bailey Rae’s Husband Overdosed

A pathologist’s report indicates Corinne Bailey Rae’s husband died from a "suspected drugs overdose," deputy assistant coroner Roger Chapman told a Leeds inquest.

The March 27 hearing was adjourned to a date to be fixed so further investigations could take place. Jason Rae’s body was released and a burial order made. He was found dead in his Leeds flat March 22.

Investigators reported no signs of trauma, violence or any significant natural disease signs.

Leeds-born singer Corinne Bailey Rae met her husband while working at a jazz club in the city and they married in 2001.

EMI, her record label, immediately released a statement of its sincere condolences to the soul singer and her family.

Her husband’s band, The Haggis Horns, has performed as a backing band for Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and Rae herself.
