Universal CD Growth

As part of Wal-Mart’s "Earth Month" promotion, Universal Music Group has made their CD packaging so "green" that it sprouts flowers.

All albums from Universal Music Enterprises – the U.S. catalog and special markets entity for UMG – were expected to be offered in the new REPAK CD package that includes an insert made from seed paper that "will actually bloom into wildflowers," according to a statement.

Album inserts suitable for burial include new titles from Sheryl Crow, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and Counting Crows and catalog albums including Eric Clapton’s Cream of Clapton, Steely Dan’s Definitive Collection, Nirvana’s self-titled album, Melissa Etheridge’s Greatest Hits: The Road Less Traveled and Marvin Gaye’s Every Great Motown Hit.
