Malawi Officials Back Madonna Adoption

Madonna’s bid to adopt 2-year-old David Banda reportedly has the backing of Malawi’s authorities after social workers said she is a wonderful mum.

The 49-year-old singer and husband Guy Ritchie have been looking after the boy at their London home for the last 18 months.

Care workers who traveled from the African state in January say the adoption should be given the go-ahead when Madonna visits Malawi in the next few days, according to the Daily Mirror.

David, whose mother had died, was malnourished when he arrived at the Home of Hope orphanage in 2005. Madonna was accused of being given special treatment when she began adoption proceedings the following year.

A story in The Sun said the pop queen has now set her heart on adopting an Indian baby girl, having become "frustrated with the red tape" involved in trying to adopt one in Africa.
