Graspop Goes For Another Record

Graspop Metal Meeting promoter Peter Van Geel has just finalised a lineup he believes has every chance of breaking the 105,000 attendance record set by last year’s Belgian three-dayer.

"I think an average of over 35,000 per day is possible with this bill," he said after confirming that Iron Maiden, Bullet For My Valentine, Judas Priest, Whitesnake, KISS, Def Leppard, Saxon, Cavalera Conspiracy, In Flames, Opeth and Avenged Sevenfold will all be playing the Deboeretang festival park in Dessell June 27-29.

Van Geel says last year the event took "a risk but not too much of a risk" by doubling the entertainment budget to get all the best rock talent available. It broke the previous attendance record of 85,000 set in 2006.
