PNC Center Limits Tailgating
Officials with PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J., have banned tailgating at five of the venue’s 30 scheduled concerts this summer to continue the crackdown on underage drinking.
Live Nation senior VP John Hoff told a Senate Legislative Oversight Committee in Trenton April 22nd that tailgating won’t be allowed at concerts by John Mayer, O.A.R. and 311 as well as WKTU Beatstock and the Projekt Revolution tour stop, according to the state’s Star-Ledger.
Hoff added that more tailgating bans could be implemented depending on which acts are booked. A parents’ waiting area will be available at concerts drawing younger fans, the paper said.
LN officials previously said that booking festival-style shows like Ozzfest and the Warped tours would be done on a limited basis as a result of two deaths and 83 arrests during last summer’s Ozzfest stop.
Live Nation, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (which owns the shed) and state police have already collaborated on tighter controls related to underage drinking, which was reported frequently last summer.
In addition to uniformed and plainclothes officers on site, video from live concert feeds will be relayed to, and monitored by, police at their command post.
