Travelling musicians are used to a diet of late-night pancakes and Denver omelets, which makes Denny’s AllNighter and Adopt-a-Band program a clever idea – because the bands will probably actually use it.

Each month a new band is chosen by fans through the Adopt-a-Band program to eat for free and host after-parties at local Denny’s restaurants while on tour.

“At a time when touring costs are high, Denny’s is here to help,” the all-hours diner said in a statement.

The company’s even dedicated a Web site to the project: Dennysallnighter.com. The Web site looks like Rolling Stone’s Internet home, but instead of live photos, the pictures on the Web site show bands like Taking Back Sunday macking on a plate of tacos.

By clicking on the “vote for bands” link, fans have the chance to influence which group will be getting their Grand Slams for free. Bands can also submit an application on the Web site to be considered for adoption and if selected, they’ll have the chance to be voted on.

Up-and-coming bands in the running for the month of May include Postcard, The Queues, People Noise, Hey Mister, The Boxing Lesson, Dropout Year, and Of Fate And Chance. The Web site provides a brief bio of each band and a chance to check out a tune by each artist.

Bands currently adopted by Denny’s include Saving Abel, EndeverafteR, Take The Crown, Switches, Foxy Shazam and Forever The Sickest Kids.

Denny’s AllNighter is a sponsor of the 2008 in George, Wash., May 24-26.

According to the company’s site, the Sasquatch! campground will feature a Denny’s Lounge with DJs spinning tunes and all of the diner’s classic breakfast and late-night menu items.

The AllNighter Web site also includes tour dates for the adopted bands, blog updates and its photo gallery featuring photos submitted by bands and fans of concerts and late-nights at Denny’s.
