Country Jam Texas Canceled

Country Thunder USA officials announced May 22 that they have been forced to cancel the Texas festival planned for May 29th to June 1st.

The decision was based on several factors: a depressed economy, low ticket sales and the financial outcome of last year’s event after catastrophic rainfall and the cancellation of 70 percent of the lineup, according to a statement.

Artists scheduled to appear included Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Jason Aldean, Halfway to Hazard, Dierks Bentley, Kellie Pickler and more.

The upcoming Wisconsin event to be held July 16-19 in Twin Lakes and the Arizona event scheduled for next spring are not affected by the Texas cancellation.

Country Thunder GM Glenn Starnes said the company thought they could pull off a recovery from last year’s disastrous weather cancellations, but with all the extenuating circumstances, it just didn’t happen.
