Monkeys Managers Win MMF Award

Looking after the careers of Arctic Monkeys and Reverend & The Makers has earned Ian McAndrew and Geoff Barradale the managers of the year award, as presented by the U.K.’s Music Managers’ Forum.

Apart from the team behind two of the hottest acts to emerge from Sheffield in the last two years, others to be honoured at MMF’s annual awards dinner at London’s Intercontinental Hotel May 14 included Nettwerk Chief Terry McBride and 19 Entertainment chief exec Simon Fuller.

McBride, whose clients include Avril Lavigne, Barenaked Ladies, Dido, Stereophonics, Sarah McLachlan, All Saints and Jamiroquai, won international manager of the year. Fuller took the prestigious Peter Grant Award for outstanding management.

Other winners included Bernard Butler for producer of the year, while Geffen Records label boss Ron Fair – who worked in London in the ’80s and launched the careers of many U.K. acts in the U.S. – Dennis Muirhead and David Stopps were inducted into the Roll Of Honour.

A new award, "innovation of the year," was presented to Sandbag, the commercial arm of Radiohead, for its work on the In Rainbows album.

The Music Managers Forum represents more than 375 U.K.-based managers and their artists.
