Bankruptcy May Slow Riverboat

The sale of Casino Aztar in Evansville, Ind., may be delayed by several months after parent company Tropicana Entertainment filed for bankruptcy May 5th.

The Indiana Gaming Commission said Eldorado Resorts of Reno, Nev., still plans to purchase the riverboat casino, the sale of which is expected to fetch as much as $245 million.

The Chapter 11 filing covers eight other Tropicana properties, including casinos in Nevada, Mississippi and Louisiana, but excludes the Tropicana resort-casino in Atlantic City, N.J.

Aztar, which opened in 1995 as Indiana’s first casino, is being sold along with Horizon Casino Hotel in Vicksburg, Miss.
