AEG Gets On The Boat

AEG Live has gotten on board with Harrah’s Horseshoe Casino Hammond near Chicago to develop and program a new 3,200-capacity venue atop the entertainment barge.

The multiyear agreement will see AEG book and co-promote concerts at The Venue at Horseshoe Casino and act as the marketing adviser for the room, according to a statement.

"Our long-term strategy has always been to search out and create strategic relationships with the finest facilities and most respected operators in the marketplace," said senior midwest VP Joe Litvag. "The Venue at Horseshoe Casino provides us with the opportunity to align ourselves with the most dynamic new entertainment space in Chicago, along with the most forward-thinking casino entertainment company in the country."

The Venue is to feature retractable lower-level seats that can be scaled to create a GA floor with seating for 2,300, as well as a suite area that will seat 200. Six VIP boxes will feature three rows of seats per box and salons with couches, high-definition televisions and bottle service.

Montreal’s Sceno Plus, which previously designed the Bellagio Theatre, Colosseum at Caesars Palace and Wynn Casino Theatre in Las Vegas, has taken charge with the Horseshoe venue’s design.

The room is expected to debut in August as part of the casino’s $500 million, 350,000-square-foot expansion project.
