Amy To Play Mandela Party

Apparently trying to put her troubles behind and get her live career back on track, Amy Winehouse has confirmed she’ll appear at Nelson Mandela’s 90th-birthday concert.

She accepted a personal invitation from the former South African president and will be joining a star-studded lineup at London’s Hyde Park June 27, according to U.K. press reports.

Other global superstars confirmed include Queen, Leona Lewis, Annie Lennox and Dame Shirley Bassey.

Will Smith, Robert De Niro, Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey and former U.S. president Bill Clinton are among others reportedly on the guest list.

"Amy joins an illustrious list of names showing their support for 46664 and the fight against AIDS," said Tim Massey, the organisation’s international director.

46664 was Mandela’s prisoner ID when he was held on Robben Island in Cape Town for 18 years. He was the 466th prisoner to be incarcerated on the island in 1964. Several concerts have been staged since he founded the charity in 2003.

Winehouse began her summer shows at Rock In Rio in Lisbon (May 30 to June 1), where the all-star international cast included Rod Stewart, Alejandro Sanz, Lenny Kravitz, Bon Jovi, James Morrison, Alanis Morissette, Joss Stone and Tokio Hotel.

Apart from Mandela’s birthday bash, Winehouse is also booked at the Madrid version of Rock In Rio June 27, the U.K.’s Glastonbury Festival June 28, Ireland’s Oxegen and Scotland’s T In The Park (both July 11-13), and France’s Rock En Seine August 28-29.
